The Values exercise is a 20-minute writing exercise that asks participants to reflect on what is most important to them, and how they can express their core values in their lives. It helps people shift from extrinsic motivation to intrinsic motivation, improves self-concept, and instills meaning into daily responsibilities. This exercise has been shown to improve mental and physical health, raise academic and professional performance, and hep people persevere through challenging circumstances. It may be implemented online or in-person.
